President: Ayushi Mohanty (Class of 2023)
Hey everyone! My name is Ayushi Mohanty and I am a senior at Carnegie! I will be your Biology Olympiad President for the 2022-23 school year. My love for math and science, especially biology, has grown immensely in the past several years, and it will not stop growing either. This club has been a huge part in motivating and challenging me to go farther in my journey and has helped me meet many smart, ambitious, and friendly people along the way. As the president of Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society) and the Math & Science Team, I wish to expand my knowledge on the use of math in fields such as neuroscience, biomedicine, and other science fields as well. I am a USA Brain Bee National Finalist and I have a lot of competition experience in both math and science. In my free time, I love to do classical dance and play the guitar. For fun, I like to solve all types of puzzles, create artwork, and read. I encourage anyone with an interest in furthering their knowledge in biology to join this club.
Feel free to contact me about competition advice in both math and science, Brain Bee, CVHS, or anything else, at: Email: [email protected]
2022 Cabinet
President: Tina Li (Class of 2022)
Hey guys! My name is Tina and I am a junior at CVHS. I will be your Biology Olympiad President for this school year (2020-2021). Biology, particularly Environmental Genetics, has always been a constant fixture in my interests. I believe that biology does not and should not just be constricted as just a "science course". While it is fundamentally true that biology is a science and should be approached in a scientific manner when studying the course, I believe that biology unlocks a vast amount of potential in other fields of study. It is my personal goal to help you guys understand biology's role in the greater scope of knowledge. In the real world, biology is heavily intertwined with politics and economics. We take a lot of raw resources from bio-systems for our own monetary gains and sculpt a multitude of our laws around company and corporate rights to these resources; however, we rarely present solutions that sustainably address how our actions affect biology as a whole. I have been fortunate to be asked to present in prestigious seminars across the Houston Area, including as a speaker at the Young Leaders Institute: Environment and Energy Security seminar on the dangerous impact intensive cattle farming in Brazil holds for the Amazon Rainforest and potential solutions towards those issues.

Vice President: Monica Balakrishnan (Class of 2022)
Hi my name is Monica and I am a junior at CVHS! I am the Vice President of the Biology Olympiad Club at CVHS. I have been part of Biology Olympiad for the past two years and was the secretary of the club(2019/2020 school year). I have a great passion for biology and have loved the subject and its related fields since I was very young! I am also active in Women in Science and Engineering Club at CVHS and have competed in the Science Olympiad and the iSWEEEP science fair outside of school. In addition, I hold many club positions here at CVHS including: Vice President of Swimming Downstream Club and Co-President of the Entrepreneurship and Business Club. Apart from academics, I am a nationally rated and ranked fencer and represent Team USA in local, national, and (hopefully soon!) international events! In my free time, I love to create websites, apps, and research about latest medical innovations that help solve medical problems in the real world. I have a friendly and outgoing attitude and look forward to meeting all of the new members of the club and having a great 2020-2021 year ahead! You can contact me at: Email: [email protected]
Secretary: Jessica Lin (Class of 2022)
Hey y'all! My name is Jessica Lin, and I am a junior at Carnegie. This will be my second year in the club, and I am so excited to be your Biology Olympiad Secretary! Growing up, science was always my favorite subject, and I have truly found my passion within biology. Because of these interests, I want to pursue medicine in the future (mostly likely as an oncologist or medical examiner). Besides having taken AP Biology last year, I also research facets of the field that I find interesting on my own time. Currently, I've been reading up on immunotherapy. Other clubs that I am involved in include being the President of the Red Cross Club, being in the Board of Directors for the Interact Club, and being a Fiction Editor in the school's Literary Magazine. Outside of school, my hobbies include writing, dancing, crocheting, and anything Marvel. Also, I'm a fan of cats.
